HubSpot
Hence, the dominance of email marketing tools like MailChimp and Aweber is but obvious.
We have already discussed these tools in our previous blog posts and in this guide we will do a mailerlite review which is another similar tool.
Now coming to the major highlight of this article is the email marketing application MailerLite, which is at par with the above-mentioned tools in terms of features and affordability and allows you to send emails to new as well as old subscribers. I will discuss MAILERLITE, which has all the features to cater to small and medium businesses while offering ease of use.
All About MailerLite
What is MailerLite tool used for?
MailerLite is originally a Lithuanian company recently acquired by Vercom (Poland). Mailerlite has steadily grown within a few months of its launch. It is essentially simple and at the same time is an affordable email service.
The thing about MailerLite that drew me towards it is that MailerLite is easy to use, offers a generous forever free plan and is available in 8 languages.
Leslie Samuel, who gives insights on how to grow your online business on his Learning with Leslie podcast, shared an email exchange he had with MailerLite founder which said
We are working a lot on new features, but we still want to keep MailerLite very simple to use
True to its words, MailerLite is devoid of any complications and I went crazy for the ease of use it offers and perfect for a small business.

The editor is incredibly intuitive—you just select a design, drag in content blocks, and customize with your preferred colors and fonts. What I love most is how fast it is; thanks to CDN, uploading images is always a breeze. Plus, every template is mobile-friendly, so my emails look great on any device. The inline editing feels natural, and the ability to save custom content blocks streamlines my workflow. It’s a perfect blend of creativity and efficiency!
3. Edit Images with Built-in Photo Editor
With MailerLite you do not need to shift to another software to edit your images. This application itself provided you its own built-in editor that is simple but great. Now you can re-size, crop, include text, add filters and effects, play with the brightness and contrast, add frames and do so much more.
Unlike platforms where you need separate software for image edits, MailerLite lets you resize, crop, add text, and apply filters right within the app. It’s simple yet powerful, making email creation seamless and efficient.
4. Manage Email Subscribers
MailerLite allows you to easily import your contacts, either manually or via CSV, TXT, Excel files.
Any duplicate or bad record is removed automatically.
Not only this, it takes special care of every bounced email(includes hard bounce and soft bounce) and unsubscribes. You can organize your email campaigns, your contacts, create new fields, save email IDs, names, Companies and do so much more with the various marketing features like Subscriber Management included in the application. All-in-all, MailerLite is innovative and time-saving.

- Designing Sign-up Forms is a seamless job. Use this simple Form Builder, edit it to match your newsletter template and off you go!

- Export your lists to Excel in a click to analyse and store your data. MailerLite NEVER locks your data.
- MailerLite now offers advanced subscriber segmentation options that allow users to create targeted email campaigns based on specific subscriber behaviors and characteristics. This feature helps users send more personalized and relevant emails to their subscribers.
Managing email subscribers with MailerLite is a breeze compared to other tools I’ve used. Importing contacts is seamless, with duplicates and bad records automatically cleaned up—no manual fussing around. The platform also excels at handling bounces and unsubscribes, ensuring my list stays healthy. Unlike some competitors, MailerLite subscriber segmentation is intuitive, allowing me to target specific groups effortlessly. Plus, syncing with social profiles is a fantastic touch, offering deeper insights for personalization.
5. Track email campaign activity
MailerLite provides a smart Email Newsletter Software to monitor your email campaign’s activity.
You can get a clear understanding of how many mails have been opened and how many clicks have happened, who unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, link activities, and many such statistics that are useful in improving your email campaigns.
You can have an overview of how your campaign fared as well as narrow down to every single detail of it.
- You can dig in to see who has opened your email and have knowledge of every individual subscriber.
- MailerLite analytics and reporting features provide users with detailed insights into their email campaigns, including open rates, click-through rates, and subscriber behavior. This feature helps users track the performance of their email campaigns and make data-driven decisions about future campaigns.
- While you get to know who has unsubscribed from your mailing lists, MailerLite automatically removes the email information from the lists.
- MailerLite has feedback loop integrations with Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and others. Hence, if any subscriber using these ISPs marks your newsletter as spam, you will be notified immediately.
- You get to know how many of your users are reading emails from mobile devices, browsers or desktop email clients.
- Know which links were the most popular in your email newsletter. Along with that, it tells you which user clicked on the given link.
- MailerLite Analytics is another smart feature. It allows you to integrate Google Analytics tags on all your links so that you can monitor them better and also track all the conversions and sales happening.
MailerLite email campaign tracking is robust and easy to use, offering clear insights into opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and more. Compared to other tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact, MailerLite is more straightforward but lacks some advanced segmentation features. While it’s great for getting a quick overview and detailed subscriber behavior, I wish it had more customizable reporting options and deeper integration with other analytics tools beyond Google Analytics. It’s solid but could benefit from enhanced data visualization and reporting flexibility.
6. Landing Pages & Signup Forms
Just like the drag and drop email template builder, you can build SEO friendly landing page builder from MailerLite.
From the template library of 40+ landing page templates, you can customize the landing page from this template builder.
You can design the landing pages without any code, embed GDPR compliant forms and allocate the page on your own business domain. Landing Page has following features:
- Click heatmaps
- Google analytics
- Stripe analytics
- Facebook pixels
- A/B testing
- SEO Settings
I have already talked about Webforms. You can design your own webform using this form builder.
It automatically directs your new subscribers directly to the MailerLite subscriber groups.
You can also add Pop-up forms and templates from the MailerLite Pop-up gallery, these pop-up templates can be added on to your website in various formats, that include full-screen, half-screen, modal, promotion and slidebox.
As someone who isn’t a designer, Landing Page and Signup Form builder is incredibly user-friendly, much like their email editor. Without any coding skills, I could create SEO-friendly landing pages using customizable templates, and the process was smooth. The integration of features like click heatmaps, Google Analytics, and A/B testing is impressive, especially for the price point. However, compared to tools like Unbounce or Leadpages, the design options are more limited. More advanced customization options would make it even better.
7. Email Automation and Auto-Replies to your emails
MailerLite has email automation workflow builder, through which you can build automated email workflows to engage your subscribers, using this workflow builder you can send triggered emails, personalize each email, this will help you in improving customer retention.
MailerLite automation workflows allow users to create complex email campaigns that are triggered by specific subscriber behaviors. This feature is useful for businesses that want to send targeted emails based on subscriber actions, such as opening an email or clicking a link.
For an eCommerce business, you can automate abandoned cart campaigns.
Recently, MailerLite also launched multi-trigger email automation, do A/B test of automation campaigns.
A/B Testing for Automations allows users to test up to three versions of email steps or delay steps to determine the best time to trigger automations and which call-to-action drives more conversions. By testing different variables, users can optimize their email campaigns and automations to improve overall performance.
You can create and schedule automated messages like Welcome Message for every new subscriber, Birthday/Anniversary messages, reminders for subscription renewals or any other purchase, greeting and such data-oriented campaigns.
This is a great way to remain connected with your users and also to let them know that you care.
Email automation is quite powerful, especially for its price range. The workflow builder is user-friendly and allows for personalized, triggered emails that boost customer engagement. Compared to other tools like Mailchimp, I found MailerLite simpler to use, though it may lack some advanced options. The recent addition of multi-trigger automation and A/B testing is a great improvement. However, more complex segmentation and deeper integration with other tools would make it even better.
8. Blog and Website Builder
MailerLite Website and Blog builders has all features available to establish a trustable brand and audience engagement for yourself.
With the drag-and-drop website builder, you can engage you website visitors, grow your returning visitors, connect & monetize visitors into paying customers.
MailerLite has 20+ website templates available, from where you can start building your own website on your own business domain.
Website and Blog Builder is straightforward and effective, especially compared to more complex tools like Wix or WordPress. I appreciate the ease of dragging and dropping elements, but the limited template variety (20+) feels restrictive. Expanding template options and adding more customization features would enhance its competitiveness in the market.
9. iPad Subscriber App
Your iPad can now be your subscribers’ form with this App. Place your iPad wherever you want to pull in new subscriber.
Customize it as per your needs using one of the 10 great looking email templates included by MailerLite, or build your own template, and get going.
The best part?
You don’t need internet connection to collect subscribers using MailerLite Subscriber app on iPad.
Your data will be saved automatically in the app memory and will get synced the moment you connect to internet.
iPad Subscriber App is a handy tool for capturing new subscribers, even without internet access—a feature many other email marketing tools lack. However, compared to similar apps, the template options are limited, and additional customization features would enhance its usability. Expanding the template variety and offering more design flexibility would make it even better.
10. Sell digital products
Mailerlite also allows you to sell digital products and earn passive income. You can easily set up payment options with stripe integrations and accept payments from more than 100 currencies.
The flexible drag and drop editor will help you showcase your products in more creative ways.
Ability to sell digital products from MailerLite is a fantastic addition, especially for creators looking to earn passive income. Setting up payments through Stripe was seamless, and the ability to accept over 100 currencies is impressive. Compared to other email marketing tools like ConvertKit, MailerLite drag-and-drop editor offers more creative flexibility. However, it would be great if they added more built-in e-commerce features, like advanced analytics or upsell options, to make the selling process even more powerful and competitive.
11. MailerLite is Global
Mailerlite offers support for languages like English, French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Ukrainian.
12. API Support and Integrations
The API support allows developers to integrate MailerLite functionalities with other applications like CRMs and eCommerce apps.
Recently, MailerLite published in its official blog about its integration with Zapier.
Zapier integration lets you sync subscriber data from other tools you use to your MailerLite account. Easy!
Zapier enables you to easily connect with web apps you use. It is a time saving bridge that connects you with everything on the web. This integration with Zapier has opened up various ways in which you can use this email marketing software.
Any event that you might have triggered, is automatically completed by Zapier. In-case of MailerLite, Zapier helps in adding a new subscriber to your mailing list.
Now MailerLite has new integrations available: SendOwl, BookFunnel, PrestaShop, BigCommerce, ConvertPlay, Shopify, Woocommerce and MiloTree. These integrations can help you to sell digital goods online, deliver ebook, convert viewers within your videos and grow your email list from Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
The BigCommerce integration enables users to automatically add customers as MailerLite subscribers and access additional e-commerce features like abandoned cart email automations. This integration streamlines the process of managing subscribers and automating email campaigns for e-commerce businesses.
API support and integrations, especially with Zapier, are fantastic for streamlining workflows. Compared to other tools like Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign, MailerLite integrations are growing but still slightly limited. The Zapier integration, however, is a huge time-saver, syncing subscriber data across various apps effortlessly. For example, automatically adding new customers from BigCommerce to your mailing list is a breeze. However, expanding native integrations beyond basic e-commerce platforms would be a great improvement. More direct CRM integrations could significantly enhance its utility for diverse businesses.
Comparison with Mailchimp
MailerLite vs MailChimp
As I had mentioned in the beginning that Mailchimp, one of the most viable MailerLite alternative is one of the most used email marketing tools in the market. I have also used it and honestly, it is awesome.
I did not shift to MailerLite just for the sake of it. Here are few reasons why I made this shift. You can also tag it as Mailerlite vs Mailchimp!
MailChimp is a standalone and cloud-based app, while MailerLite is also a SaaS-based app with a 92.6 delivery rate with Mailchimp having only 80.2.
Also the overall rating of Mailerlite on Capterra is 4.5/5 while the overall rating of Mailchimp is also 4.5/5.
MailerLite is available many European language, Español, Português, Français, Italiano, Svenska, Finnish, Polski, Lietuviškai, Українська, Русский, and meet the local language requirement very easily.
I did not want my email campaigns to lose its design when my users open it on mobile devices. There is no doubt that people need everything on-the-go.
So why make your users wait till they reach their desk?!

If you are someone who can get away with the simple drag and drop editor with simple needs then MailerLite will fit you perfectly. It also has a good 24 7 live chat support, all the classic integrations, email automation tools, and anything one would expect from their email marketing software in USA.
Update: MailerLite now offers SMS campaigns as a way to reach subscribers who prefer to receive text messages. This feature is useful for businesses that want to diversify their communication channels and reach subscribers on their mobile devices.
