2 Advance Alternatives to MailChimp You Should Try

So you must have heard the new band VeilHymn as a part of the Rhyming ad campaign from MailChimp? It turns out that Dev Hynes of Blood Orange and Bryndon Cook from Starchild and The Romantic is part of this ad campaign that also released names like MailShrimp, KaleLimpWhaleSynth and more!  Yeah, it is as confusing as it can be. MailChimp turned to music to play with its name this time, and I have no idea why! Anyway, maybe we can count this as one of the reasons why we will discuss other alternatives to MailChimp, isn’t it?!

MailChimp is a name that will crop up every single time you make a discussion about email marketing campaigns. It’s more like email marketing = MailChimp. True, MailChimp is the most popular email marketing tool, but that does not suffice to say it will suit every business. I have been using MailChimp for a long time now. As much as I love this tool, there were times when I had to look out for alternatives to MailChimp. And while I was on it, there were two alternatives to MailChimp that had me stop- GetResponse and GetDrip. I had mentioned both of these alternatives in one of my previous posts on 7 Next Generation Drip Email Campaign Software [2017 Edition]. Apart from that, I have already reviewed GetDrip as one of the alternatives to MailChimp earlier. So, in this post, I will discuss GetResponse more elaborately first before moving on to GetDrip.

Before we jump on to the alternatives to MailChimp, here is an overview of all that MailChimp has got to offer.

MailChimp: Features Overview

There are over a hundred eCommerce integrations ready for you to connect your store. You can create highly targeted email and Facebook campaigns. With automated follow-up feature, you can reach out to your users efficiently and on-time. Know what your customers are buying and accordingly design your campaign.

Going about designing campaigns, MailChimp provides easy drag and drop editor. You can create your campaign as you wish. If you need help, you can always take a look at the email template reference. Thanks to the option of multi-user collaboration, you can comment inside the editor and coordinate with your team to speed up the work.

MailChimp provides robust marketing automation so that you can connect with interested customers on time. A single API request can trigger a series of emails. Add to this; the built-in segmentation makes it easy to create custom rules. To top it all, you have real-time analysis and reports at your disposal to track, monitor and enhance your campaigns.

Like I said, advanced analytics is a core feature at MailChimp. You can monitor the sales activities, review the revenue reports and plan out your sales and email strategies accordingly. With Google Analytics, you can quickly refine and optimize your campaigns.

The Facebook Ad Campaign feature lets you expand your sales horizon, and connect with more users in fewer steps. You can link your eStore and get in-depth analysis of customer acquisitions and revenue generated.

A whole suite of mobile apps makes MailChimp accessible on-the-go. All emails from MailChimp are designed to fit any screen size. So if you are sending out an email using the MailChimp Snap or otherwise, you are confident your design quality will not get hampered a bit.

Last is the set of integrations that MailChimp offers. MailChimp integrates with a host of popular apps and services, including Salesforce, Facebook, Twitter, SurveyMonkey, Shopify, and so much more. You can also take a look at the eCommerce Collection of integrations.

MailChimp provides in-depth documentation of their API, wrapper downloads, and other how-to-guides. It ensures endless possibilities within the confines of MailChimp. Also, the abuse prevention initiative, Omnivore, is active in the background throughout to maintain a clean system.

These are few of the major feature headings that branch out into many more sub-features. For instance, you can create merge tags and email beamers. You can conduct A/B tests for better results. Features like abandoned cart, geolocation, predicted demographics, delivery by time zone, and inbox preview makes email delivery smooth and customized.

MailChimp Pricing

MailChimp provides three easy pricing plans:

For new users, MailChimp offers a FREE plan. Paid plans include:

  • Growing Business plan, starting at $10/month
  • Pro Marketer plan, at additional $199/month

Now, I don’t have anything against MailChimp. It is a great tool. However, there are many other tools on the market which are making it big with their services. Let’s see how and why. I will start with GetResponse first.

GetResponse: One of The Alternatives to MailChimp Automation Tool

GetResponse is an online marketing platform design for your business growth. With a 30-day free trial option, GetResponse promises quick and noteworthy results. It covers everything- email marketing, landing page and template designs, marketing automation, mobile responsive designs, webinars, campaign tracking and a wide range of integrations.

GetResponse Features: A Comprehensive Walkthrough

Since you are here to look for alternatives to MailChimp, we’ll first look at the email marketing feature.

Email Marketing

You can increase your sales and engage your subscribers more. GetResponse lets you send a message, track open rates and click-throughs, and analyze them in-depth for better email campaigns.

To make your email campaigns work, you need to have the basics sorted: Great content, mobile responsive email template, and some great images to go with it. GetResponse makes it all simple for you.

You can explore the unlimited design options at GetResponse. The Drag and drop editor lets you create email templates that you wish to use. Similarly, you can also copy-paste your HTML code and get your email template ready in a snap. You can either reiterate any one of the 500+ predesigned templates or create one from scratch.

GetResponse also gives you access to over 1,000 free iStock images. It means getting that professional look and feel is even easier.

GetResponse ensures that all designs (those that you create or the predesigned templates) are mobile responsive. It goes one step further in showing exactly how your email will look on a mobile with the in-editor mobile preview feature. You can preview how your design looks, and the best part: you can have control over your design even when you are accessing GetResponse from your mobile.

Email Personalisation is the norm now. GetResponse lets you address subscribers by name and also include key details about subscribers to give a personalized touch. You can use dynamic content to ensure your emails are professional as well as personalized to the last dot.

Chuck the hours of manual labor with GetResponse’s autoresponders. You can put your marketing communications on autopilot. Right from the time your subscribers sign up to the last conversation thread, GetResponse will ensure the conversations are meaningful. You can offer eCourses, educational cycles, weekly or daily tips, and such using the drag-and-drop organizer.

What’s an email campaign without smart segmentation of lists?! rather than bombing thousands of subscribers with irrelevant emails, it is always wise to segment your subscribers based on factors like gender, geolocation, interests, etc. The advanced segmentation feature of GetResponse lets you do this seamlessly.

Getting emails delivered into the inbox (100% delivery) is a considerable challenge for email marketers. GetResponse offers a feature tagged as Perfect Timing. It ensures optimized delivery. In this, subscribers will get the message in their inbox during those hours when they are active. By doing this, you can expect more opens and engagement.

GetResponse-email-deliveryNow, all subscribers cannot be in the same time zone; mainly when you are targeting a global audience. To cope up with this, GetResponse offers Time Travel feature. You can get your messages delivered to your subscribers based on their time zone and active period. All major ISPs have whitelisted GetResponse. Hence, you need not worry about email reputation and delivery status.

After you have sent out your email, the next step is to analyze how it is performing. GetResponse lets you track and optimize your email performance. With one intuitive dashboard at your disposal, you can track opens, clicks, social shares and unsubscribes. The real-time activity tracking feature gives you a bird’s view of how your email performed globally.

To ensure you get the maximum out of your email campaign, you will need to keep testing various versions of your email. The A/B testing feature lets you check everything- the email content, the CTA buttons, ‘From’ field, subject lines, template design, and every other element used in an email campaign. After all, you never know which will work wonders for you.

Many-a-times, nothing seems to work. However much you tweak your design or content or that sharing button, you tend to go wrong somewhere. GetResponse’s learning center and Leslie Samuel’s email marketing example can be of a lot of help.
